Lily de Silva
Lily de Silva (1928–2005) was a Pali scholar at the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya, where she received a B.A. with First Class Honors in Pali and the Woodward Prize for Pali and, in 1967, her Ph.D. She stayed at the University to teach and quickly became Chair of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies where she remained until her retirement in 1994.
